Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed

It was bedtime so five little monkeys took a bath, put on their pajamas, brushed their teeth...

...and said good night to their mama.

Then... five little monkeys jumped on the bed!

One fell off and bumped his head.

The mama called the doctor. The doctor said, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

So four little monkeys...

...jumped on the bed.

One fell off and bumped his head.

The mama called the doctor. The doctor said, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

So three little monkeys jumped on the bed.

One fell off and bumped her head.

The mama called the doctor. The doctor said, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

So two little monkeys jumped on the bed.

One fell off and bumped his head.

The mama called the doctor. The doctor said, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

So one little monkey jumped on the bed.

She fell off and bumped her head.

The mama called the doctor. The doctor said....

"NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED!"

So five little monkeys fell fast asleep.

"Thank goodness!" said the mama.

"Now I can go to bed!"

Pam: Thank you for the beautiful quilt. You can see how much the monkeys are enjoying it!

  1. That is so cute...I noticed the quilt right away! I didn't know you had enough little monkeys to jump on the bed. Poor Mama should spank them all. G

  2. This is so adorable! I love all the mini monkeys. I have the blue one--I named her Taylor. I also have two similar to the one with his eyes closed. Their names are Spencer and Nathan. I ALSO have the big version of the green striped one, I named her Sam. This is such a clever idea! Are there any other monkey stories I could reenact? Love, Jillian (and Socko ♪♫♪)

  3. Hi Jillian and Socko,

This is an old rhyme and finger play. Eileen Christelow used it for one of her books. She also has:
    Five Little Monkeys Go Shopping
Five Little Monkeys Play Hide and Seek
Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree
Five Little Monkeys Bake a Cake (formerly Don't Wake Up Mama!)
Five Little Monkeys With Nothing To Do
Five Little Monkeys Wash the Car

Maybe your local library has some of these books for ideas. Or a Curious George adventure? Ask a children's librarian for more ideas. They do a lot of storytimes and know about stories and finger plays.

Isn't it funny that we have some of the same monkeys? Do you have a Rite Aid Drugstore near you? I was told they have a striped Easter Bunny sock monkey right now.

  4. G,

Mama is exhausted! But she's going against the doctor's advice and jumping on the bed too. Even though some of the mini monkeys are traveling right now I can still manage to come up with 5. I heard from Audrey today. She leaves for Spain tomorrow. Oops, I just told of a future adventure!

  6. I'm glad you are all enjoying the quilt! I can see we oriented it the wrong way for the bed - oops! oh well.... just gives me and my girls a future project to do, as they loved helping me make the sock monkey quilt (even though they did not want to give it away lol)

It's just perfect. So much work and such a nice surprise. I'm so happy your girls were able to give it up. I don't blame them for wanting to keep it. Any time they want to take Itsy on an adventure let me know. I don't know how to sew but we are busy trying to knit the royal wedding. The things we do at the library.........
